Ecosafety Screening of Photo-Fenton Process for the Degradation of Microplastics in Water

Microplastic pollution is receiving increased attention due to the realization of its hazards aquatic and human life. Researchers across globe are attempting remove microplastics before entry into ecosystem. Therefore, present work focused on removal microplastic from water studied potential risks for marine organisms The model microplastics, polypropylene (PP) polyvinyl chloride (PVC), has been by using photo-Fenton process. ZnO nanorods coated with SnO x ( < 2) layer decorated zero valent iron (Fe 0 ) nanoparticles was used as heterogeneous catalyst in continuous flow device. obtained results demonstrated that high degradation efficiency PP PVC achieved a relatively short time more than 95% average particle volume reduced after 1 week irradiation. environmental impact process investigated an ecotoxicological approach.
